For a long time Spain, the land of continuous sunshine, has been one of the most beloved travel destinations for travellers from all over the world. The land stretches over large parts of the Iberian Peninsula, and the Balearic and Canary Islands. Hardly any other country is as pleomorphic as Spain. Each region of the Spanish Peninsula has its own attraction. In all parts of the country the visitor finds different cultural features and specialties, a typical gastronomy, special formations of landscape and, last but not least, a very own mentality. Especially the Spanish islands are very many-sided being influenced by different continents.

Population: apr. 47 Mio.
Language: Spanish, includes regional Basque, Catalan, Castilian and Galician.
Religion: 92% Catholic, the remainder being various faiths or atheists
Neighboring Countries: Portugal, France, Andorra

Landscape: A plateau runs through the middle of the country. It is surrounded by mountain chains, which reach practically to the ocean. Well known mountains are the Pyrenees and the Cantabrian ranges. The highest mountain is the Pico del Teide, at 3718 meters, and is an active volcano in the Canary Islands.

Climate: Spain displays, according to each region, a rich variety of climates. In general the temperatures increase from North to South and similarly, the rainfall declines. In the south and southeast there are summers with high temperatures and low rainfall.
Above all in Andalusia the summer temperatures reach 40º C (104º F), often without rain. Nevertheless the climate in this region is pleasant due to the low humidity. Mild winters prevail here. The mountain chains of the Alps and Pyrenees prevents the advance of deep fronts in this region and as a consequence also prevents the air masses from reaching the southern part of the country. This deep front also has a tendency to influence the north and northwest of Spain, especially in the form of rainfall. Sometimes storms and furious rains can be expected in the south during winter time. The Balearic Islands have roughly the same climatic conditions as the south of Spain, indeed with somewhat moderate temperatures. In addition there is more rainfall there in winter than on the mainland. An exception apart from the Spanish mainland are the Canary Islands. The climate there is much more humid depending on the farther west you go.

Hunting Season

Huntingseason in Spain

Firearm import and export

Dates for the firearm entry and hunt are asked about in advance. A fee for the firearm must be paid. You will be met at the airport by the outfitter who will assist you with police registration of the firearm and formalities. (U.S. Citizens must obtain an application for a Spanish hunting license and firearm application from a local Consulate General of Spain in the United States. These forms will allow U.S. hunters to enter Spain and hunt there after the firearm is registered). Before leaving Spain, the hunter must have registration papers stamped by police authorizing exit of hunter, firearm and ammunition from country.

Trophies

It is no problem to export legally taken, approved wildlife. The outfitter will handle packing and shipping. Separate charges and fees apply.

Accommodation

Depending on the hunting area, hunters stay at ranches, or Fincas; also hotels or nice hunting lodges in and around villages. The Spanish cuisine is known for high quality and variety! A good well-known wine will usually round out the culinary offering.
